Something else heavy on my heart....

I will admit that I have a limited understanding of animal testing and procedures. But I do know that no matter what the product is that "might" need animal testing done, it does not excuse cruel or inhumane behavior from humans.

Though I myself am unable to look at or view videos of such atrocities I know that they exist. If you are interested in being made aware of such things please click on the above title and this link and you will learn more then you ever wanted to know about such things. Yet, on the other hand it does give you a small voice when you choose products that are on the "don't do animal testing"list.

Here is a blog that might interest those who follow these things.

Now while I post this I also want to say that the other thing that weighs heavy on my heart is the abuse done to children. I could also name many other people in the categories that are subject to human caregivers....But I just can't right now. The list is too numerous.

It has been proven time and time again that those who are in the position to oversee foster children, etc....That they need someone to oversee them. Somehow we need to have a checks and balances taking place to cover all "these" organizations. It would probably end up being a huge circle of overseers , but no One organization can be trusted to watch another. Why am I writing this, all you have to do is read the paper to realize that nobody can totally do their job. There are not enough funds to pay the proper amount of people needed to oversee anything. To lay the responsibility on any one organization is only asking for trouble. Look at what's happening regarding Medicaid and Viagra, Social Services and Foster Children, The Bush administration and Iraq....etc...etc...etc...The list is endless and it will continue to be....I myself don't even know where to start...Or in which direction to go.

In regards to the Downing Street Memo, you can read the memo here yourself and sign this petition to have the Bush administration held accountable to it and respond to the allegations that it makes. Here I express only somethings that affect me, this in no way diminishes all the other things, such as the governments total disregard for our soldiers in supplying them with inadequate supplies needed to protect themselves, or all the lying liars telling lies to trusting citizens of the United States of America.

Here is a quote from Bill Maher regarding this book: ~Making Kind Choices~ that deals with animal cruelty. Now I have not read this book but what I liked was this quote regarding Animals, and I want to take the liberty to add the word Children right along side it.

"....... is about us—about how in a world so violent and cruel, there is no way to pretend we're kind people unless we extend our kindness to those who are the most innocent and helpless. Animals, be they in our homes or in the wild, are always the canary in the mine as to how we treat each other."

ps. Though I myself do not eat much meat, I just want it understood that in no way do I condemn anybody who does. There are humane and inhumane ways of raising animals for food, too. It sounds hypocritical but I believe animals were meant for our nutritional needs just as the fruit and vegetables that we grow.

Comments:
Firstly, thank you for your wonderful kindness in enlarging your font. I have greatly missed reading your blog. You have given a nightowl/insomniac blogger (me) a wonderful gift! :)

Your thoughts on both topics here are important. I'm not a vegetarian, but I'm an animal lover and I could not read the link tonight or it would upset me and I wouldn't sleep. We have to be selective in our choices in our household for products due to allergies but for clothing and food we try to go synthetic and we always avoid endangered species or environmentally contributing to such. (I can't use my grammar correctly... but am still posting)

We also give cents off coupons to animal shelters and vets instead of recycling them.... (There are organizations to mail them to also.)

As you know from previous comments here of mine, I too, am heavily troubled by child abuse. It is one of my number one priorities in mylife to help and prevent child abuse in whatever small way I can and try to encourage others to do so, too! I'm so glad that is one of your missions. IT's too important. I'm an adult survivor of abuse.

Meanwhile what you say about foster care is sadly so very true. Other areas that need so much more screening and protection for children are those jobs that pedophiles prey on such as camp counselors, youth group leaders, teaching, coaching, etc.

People need to realize, too, that women abuse as well, even if it is more likely by the statistics to be male. There are still far too many women who are depraved.

Yes, there's that lovely lady in Canada, isn't she a dear?

Like GEL, I want to thank-you for this wonderful post. I too look for "No Animal Testing" on the the products I use. I can't stand it.

As for foster care and social services, I couldn't agree more. And yet every year funding for these services are cut and social workers fired as a result, rather than financing a better system and the additional workers needed for it to run safely. It's a tragedy, and one I fear that will continue to grow until our government gets its priorities straight once more. Because you know that war in Iraq was soooo important for the sake of our nation.

*muttering as I exit*
