Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power. Thinkexist.com Quotations - Abraham Lincoln. American 16th US President (1861-65), who brought about the emancipation of the slaves. 1809-1865
Comments:
Oh Lord, test my character. Please.

By the way, contrary to popular belief, the Emancipation Proclamation didn't free any slaves. It declared all slaves in states currently in rebellion to be free. It didn't say a thing about the slaves in states not in rebellion. And of course, the states in rebellion didn't recognize Lincoln's authority. As you can see George Bush and the Republican party's deceit has great historical roots.

As a result, this always makes a great trivia question: How many slaves did Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation set free? Answer: Zero.
